Security doors are a great option for keeping unwanted guests off of a roof. At 92″ tall, security doors makes it hard to for anyone to climb a ladder.
Access ladders don’t have to be a typical mill finish. They can be anodized or even power coated. There are 5 standard RAL colors currently be offered, Fire Red, Alert Orange, Warning Blue, Cation Yellow, or Safety Green. If none of those colors are desired, RAL offers about 1,600 other colors in which access ladders can be painted.
Safety cages are required for ladders over 20′ tall. When safety cages are required, they start from 7′-8′ up from the ground level and enclose the user all the way up to the top. Therefore, if the user falls backwards the cage is there for them to fall against preventing them from falling to the ground.
Rail and harness fall arrest systems can be used on ladders that are 24′ tall or taller. Unlike the safety cage, the rail and harness fall arrest system does not have a cage surrounding the user, rather a rail that runs up and down the middle of the ladder that the user hooks their harness onto. If the user slips and falls off the ladder the unit will lock itself preventing the user from falling to the ground. As with all other rooftop accessories, the rail extends 42″ above the ladder giving the user something to grab onto as they near the top. Once securely on the top, the user can easily access the rail and remove the harness.
