Roof Hatch Fall Protection

Falling in general is not fun. Falling from high levels is especially not fun. No one should have to be at risk of falling and potentially causing bodily injuries to themselves or others. Therefore protecting oneself is necessary. This is why adding fall protection to roof hatches is essential.

Here are 3 products to help reduce the risk of falling while entering or existing roof hatches:

Babcock Davis Guard Rail

Roof hatch Safety Guard Rail Systems are great for keeping people from falling into the roof hatch from the exterior level. Models slightly differ between manufactures. Some have guard rails on 2 sides while others have them on 3 sides. A self-closing gate adds additional protection to the unit by preventing a person from falling back into the roof hatch once they’ve existed it.

Babcock Davis Safety Post

Roof hatch Safety Posts are great for giving a person something to hold onto while exiting and entering roof hatches. They attach to the ladder rungs below and slide down and lock into place when not in use allowing the roof hatch lid to close. Pushing a button on the safety post releases it from the closed position allows a person to slide the post into it’s fully extended position where it locks into place when in use.

The safety post can be used in conjunction with the Safety Guard Rail System.

The Save-A-Life ladder extension is a great option for something to hold onto while exiting and entering roof hatches. There are no moving parts or anything in a persons way while climbing the ladder that leads to the roof hatch. The Save-A-Life ladder extension is fastened onto the exterior curb frame of the roof hatch, not the curb itself. Therefore it doesn’t interfere or penetrate the roofing on the roof hatch curb. A unit can be added to each corner of the roof hatch for additional protection.

The Save-A-Life Ladder extension can not be used in conjunction with the Safety Guard Rail System.
